Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
It is my privilege to welcome you to UMBC’s Website and the home page of the Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. Consistent with the University’s mission, and working collaboratively with the deans and vice presidents, the Office of the Provost advances the intellectual life of our scholarly community through the support and advancement of our academic programs and the scholarship of our faculty and students. The Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs is the individual responsible for maintaining the academic integrity of our community by providing broad oversight of all programs of instruction and research to ensure their quality and advancement.
As attested to by numerous national rankings and peer reviews, UMBC is a University on the move. Our exceptional undergraduate programs offer our students the benefits of a strong liberal arts foundation and rigorous disciplinary background, combined with the opportunities to work with faculty who are recognized internationally for the quality of their research, scholarship and creative activities. UMBC is an open, diverse community in which academic excellence, entrepreneurial innovation and respect for others are guiding principles. Building on the strength of these educational and research programs, the materials on this page will provide you with information about our academic achievements and initiatives. I hope you will take the opportunity to learn about our exceptional scholarly community. Please contact me, or a member of my staff, if you have questions about UMBC’s academic programs.
