Updates will be provided as candidates are invited to campus so that community members may provide their input.
Launch and Scoping Meeting
Review the search process and timeline. Discuss potential dates for future meetings. Discuss the challenges, opportunities, and objectives for the position and begin developing a profile of the ideal candidate. Isaacson, Miller meets with members of the community for their thoughts about the position.

November 2024

Finalize Position Profile and Search Schedule
Final approval of the public document. Confirm the search schedule. Solicit suggestions of sources and candidates.

November

First Presentation Meeting
IM will present potential candidates. Some of these people will have been phone screened. We will also review lists of people contacted in the course of IM’s networking.

Early December

Interviews by Isaacson, Miller
Isaacson, Miller virtually interviews candidates and notes impressions and recommendations in preparation for second presentation.

January 2025

Second Preparation Meeting
IM will present candidates with whom they have had an extensive conversation with. The search committee will discuss and select a pool of semi-finalists for the search committee to interview.

Late January-Early February

Semi-Finalist Interviews by Committee
Search Committee interviews candidates and provides recommendations for finalists.

Mid-February

Checking References
Isaacson, Miller conducts extensive references on each candidate and reports findings to the Provost.

February-March

Finalist Interviews and Visits
UMBC arranges meetings for the finalists with key stakeholders and/or senior staff, the hiring authority, equally evaluating each finalist.

Mid-March

Selecting Cadidate
The Provost reviews all references and evaluation materials and selects preferred candidate.

March

Negotiations, Offer, and Acceptance
IM assists, as appropriate, with the transition of candidate to employee.
