Dean for the Albin O. Kuhn Library and Gallery

Provost van Dulmen has convened a search committee to help identify the Dean of the Albin O. Kuhn Library. Qualified candidates will possess a distinguished record of academic leadership, the ability to manage a library supporting the teaching and research needs of an R1 institution, and a commitment to inclusive excellence.

Launch Meeting
The search committee will meet with the Isaacson, Miller (IM) team to review the search process, proposed timeline, and begin to form the position profile.

December 2024

Finalize Position Profile and Search Schedule
The committee will review and finalize the IM-developed draft profile.

Late January

Networking & Candidate Interviews by IM
The IM team will contact sources and conduct interviews with candidates in preparation for the presentation meeting.

February and March

Presentation: Review and Selection of Semi-Finalists
The IM team presents candidates to the committee.

Early to Mid-April

Semi-Finalist Interviews by Committee
The committee interviews candidates and selects 3-5 finalists.

Late-April

Checking References
IM will conduct extensive references on each candidate and report their findings to UMBC.

Ongoing after semi-finalist interviews

Finalist Interviews and Visits
UMBC arranges in-person meetings with relevant constituencies and stakeholders and evaluates each finalist.

Mid-May

Selecting Cadidate
The decision-makers will review the references and evaluation materials and select the preferred candidate.
